Columbia 15410-D... Recorded on December 6,1928. A tragic ballad about a brave cowboy who sacrifices himself to save a little girl from a stampede. Another, very different, version was recorded by Marty Robbins for his 1959 LP, Gunfighter Ballads and Trail Songs, tells the same tale. Bernard and Jack Cartwright were from west Texas.
